CSFP Distribution Program
Through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), approximately 4,900 income-eligible seniors in 26 Central Pennsylvania counties will receive much-needed supplemental food packages (boxes) on a monthly basis.
The CSFP is a monthly supplemental food program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Food for the CSFP is provided by the USDA Department of Food and Nutrition Service. CSFP food packages do not provide a complete diet, but rather are good sources of the nutrients typically lacking in the diets of lower income seniors. Beginning in July 2010, over 147,000 lbs. of nutritious food will be distributed each month by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank through this program.
The supplemental food boxes are packed by volunteers who can commit to a monthly or quarterly shift of three or six hours. If you would like to volunteer to assist in the packing of these boxes, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Katie Wetzel at (717) 564-1700, ext. 3012 or kwetzel@centralpafoodbank.org.
For any questions about this program, please contact Carolyn Fansler, CSFP Coordinator at (717) 564-1700, ext. 3188, or cfansler@centralpafoodbank.org.
